Quarantine Cleaning

We’ve all spent the better part of the last year in our houses. We may have realized how our space is or is not working for us. We’ve noticed all the things we have that we might not need. And/ or we’ve started to clean out or wanted to but didn’t know where or how to start.

Spending this much time at home, and most likely working from home can help us see what we can cut down on. Also, living in this space during a global pandemic can also help us remember and notice what things are most important.

If you’ve thought about tackling some of your home projects, but got stuck about where to start, here are some tips to help you get started. I’ve shared some of these tips before, but take a look at it with a new lens.

Start small.

Pick a drawer or something manageable that you can tackle in a couple of hours. Try your best not to overthink it.

Create a clear desk space.

Especially if you are working from home, you’ll want to have your desk space as neat as possible. It can help us focus on our work and reduce clutter distractions. Of course, depending on where your office is, it won’t clear all of the distractions- pets, kids, other family members - but focus on clearing what you can control.

Pick one space to work on at a time.

Don’t try to do it all at once. If your goal is to eventually through the whole house, start in one room/closet. Focus on that and then keep moving. Pay more attention to the things you actually use. If you separate your items between things I use and things I don’t, you’ll see a big difference in the piles. Remind yourself that you want to make space and keep only what you need. Always come back to your ultimate goal.

As always, I’m here to help! Tackling a home organizing project isn’t easy for anyone. It’s not without stress or emotions and having a support like me, can be extremely helpful to help achieve your goals!
