Yoga Poses: Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon)
Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana)
Half moon pose can seem simple on the outside, but much like most postures, there are many things happening at once. You are balancing, rotating, finding a focal point, and trying to figure out what muscles to engage.
Moving slow and steady is key to coming into the pose. Follow these key steps below to find your half moon balance pose.
Key Cues
Start in triangle pose
Look towards your front foot, bend slightly into your front knee, and push off the back foot
Shift your balance onto your front leg and lift the back leg engaging the muscles and pressing through the back heel
Gazing down is best on balance, but as you feel more steady, you can begin to shift your gaze
Rotate the top hip on top of the bottom as if you are trying to open up your body to the side of the room.
