Organizing Small Spaces
We’ve all been reminded about the importance of keeping our homes organized this past year. We’ve started to clear out, organize, and get creative with our spaces. What are some of the best options for organizing smaller spaces, whether that’s a location in your home or your home in general? Here are some of the best small space organizing tips I’ve found.
Think Vertical
When you think tall and vertical in small spaces, you actually create more space.
Minimize
This one is much easier said than done, but the truth is we only use some of our things. Here are some things to think about when trying to minimize your things.
When was the last time I used this?
Do I know what this is for?
When you realize you’re out of clean clothes (or other items) what is actually still in your dressers and closets? Can you minimize what is left?
Rotate Your Closet
This is a great way to declutter from season to season as you put last season’s clothes away and take out this season’s clothes. When you have limited closet space, rotating your clothes is key. Think vertical for longer storage and think about what things you can have that can be used in all different weather, think in layers.
Multipurpose Uses
Be really smart and creative with your things. Use things that have more than one purpose. Think about layering your clothes when the weather gets cooler.
Don’t Buy in Bulk
I know, I like to buy in bulk when things are on sale too. When you live in a small space you don’t usually have the space to store extra things, so buying in bulk is not ideal in keeping your space clear and uncluttered. Buy what you need when you need it. Know what space you have available to store the extras.
Be smart, be creative, and use all the space you have to keep the things you need.
