Yoga Poses: Frog Pose
Frog Pose
I absolutely love frog pose, but I know it can be a challenging one! It is considered an advanced pose, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways for anyone to access a version of frog.
Key Cues
Begin in tabletop with your hips over your knees
begin to take the knees as you sink your torso closer to the floor
Keep your knees and hips aligned and bring the big toe side of the foot carefully towards the floor
You can use blankets to slide the knees wider
You can lay your torso on a bolster
Benefits
Strengthens the back muscles
Stretches the inner thighs, groin
Can strengthen the core
Counteracts muscle tightness associated with sitting a lot of the time
Modifications
Place blankets under the knees
Lay your torso on a bolster
Keep the feet together (think wide child’s pose)
Half frog - one leg out to the side at a time
