Yoga as Therapy
If you were to ask someone who practices yoga on a regular basis why they do yoga, you’re likely to get the answer “because it makes me feel good.” If you were to ask someone why they started going to yoga in the first place, it was often about the “fitness,” the activity aspect of the practice. For most who practice, and continue to practice, it quickly becomes something much more.
Visualization
I’ve had to take a step back from intense physical movement to heal an injury lately. The movement always helped with the injury, but in order to fully and truly heal this time, I had to pause. One of the things that I’ve had two of my favorite teachers tell me is that visualizing the movement is just has beneficial as actually doing it.
Getting Through This
What we are experiencing right now is not a normal or usual experience, and we hope to never experience this again in our lifetime. We, globally, are going through a shared experience, a shared grief, a shared change of our “normal’ way of life.
The Teacher Appears
Last month, I had the opportunity to attend Yoga Journal Live in NYC - a weekend jam packed with yoga and meditation. I am definitely feeling a yoga high.
