Moving Must Haves: First Night Box

Moving is a stressful, long process. No matter how far you are moving, whether it’s down the street, to a new town, or across the country, there are so many moving pieces to get you and your family into a new home. There are many important things to consider and think about when you move, but there is one piece that can often get left behind, and that’s the FIRST NIGHT BOX.

What is the First Night Box?

The First Night Box should be the box that get’s packed in your car (or however you will transport yourself to you new home) and include essentials. You will not unpack in the first day, or even first week, and there are a few essentials you need to have easy access to when you first arrive.

What should I pack in my box?

Here’s a guide of what you should include in your first night box.

  • Toilet paper

  • paper towel

  • toothbrushes/ toothpaste

  • Pajamas and clothes for the next day

  • Fan (depending on time of year and AC situation in the home)

  • Phone chargers

  • Tissues

  • Water and snacks (especially if you plan on spending the next day unpacking!)

What else do you know you need to help you sleep well and prepare for the following day?
